Darren Smith: My name is Darren Smith. As the blog name suggests, I am a new ESL teacher, currently based in Brisbane. Before becoming an English teacher I spent about 10 years being deeply dedicated to making electronic music and performing at festivals and parties; After a while, I realised I was getting old and that I was becoming jaded and uninterested in the party lifestyle, but that I still wanted a career that would give me the opportunity to travel. Without any teaching experience at all, I decided I would study for a Master of Applied Linguistics in TESOL.
